Second, vote here for a special incentive this week: the Ayenroki alphabet, an impolite phrase, and a transliteration/translation. I made this awhile ago, it was even a vote incentive way back before the language was used in the comic, but I figured a lot of people missed it then or didn't care. So here it is again! As for the phrase that was translated, I literally opened a chapter of the novel and picked out the first thing in Ayenroki. Yes, it happened to be something totally unflattering...but very Ayenroki-ish? *grins weakly.* Don't sic your parents on me, you youngins'.
Third! The Webcomic Readers Choice Awards voting rounds ENDS on the 14th! If you have not voted yet, please--PLEASE!--consider voting for The War of Winds in the "design" category! I'm up against some hard hitters, but last I checked, I was in the top 5! I'd love to hold my ground up there with The Dreamer and Phoenix Requiem. :3 Vote here.
Don't you HATE it when people talk about you like you're not there? Or even worse, lapse into another language you don't speak so they can privately discuss what is important to you? Yeah. I think Vrin does too. I think she's been wanting to cross her arms and glare at Ravar the whole chapter, actually. And Ravar gets a little defensive. Aww, isn't he cute when he's pouty? (*suddenly feels hands around her throat* I TAKE IT BACK!)I'm not sure who was beat up worse in this chapter actually: Ravar or Talon. It's kind of a close call. The next page is all exposition and explanation. I know a lot of you have been WAITING for that.
This chapter is coming to a close very "soon," about 15 more pages. Things are finally starting to wind down, which is nice. I'm very happy to not have to draw any more blood splatters. Didn't think I'd ever say that! I'd love to be able to finish this chapter by the end of the year, which is what that announcement at the TOP of this news post was about. So if you skipped over that, please go check it out.
This chapter is going to end in a bit of a cliff-hanger, but not too bad of one. More like a "rock in the gut" feeling than a "OMG what's going to happen!?!" kind. There will be 2 or 3 pages in a street scene though. Pretty soon I'm going to put out a call for cameos (human characters OR yourselves) so keep an eye out!
After this chapter is over, Book II "The Present" FINALLY comes to a close. In the next chapter, an interim chapter, you guys meet the Winds! I'm so excited. I'm even going to do a downloadable wallpaper calendar series on them. The South Wind is up first. You can see the sketch in the forum.
Book III starts some crrraaaazy stuff, I tell you! It's titled "The Forgotten." :3 Because of...well...you'll figure it out.
I have to go shove more books into my brain now. Enjoy the early update!
