Today is the start of the voting round over at the Webcomic Reader Choice Awards! I got nominated for best website design, and would dearly appreciate any votes you wonderful readers might send my way. You can find the link here, scroll down to "design." Thanks in advance to any brave souls who conquer their fear of 2-second registration <3.
I'm about ready to slam my head into the wall. Coming back to my apartment from my parents' house this weekend, I FORGOT MY TABLET PEN. So, the final "touches" (and by that, I mean oafish strokes) were done using a mouse. Please forgive. My face looks like this--> D:
Some people have expressed an interest in the Ayenroki alphabet via comments. Ayenroki is 1 part Arabic, 1 part French, and 1 part Kez. I use an Arabic-derived alphabet with some changes, French grammar and sentence structure (simplified, and no masculine or feminine forms), and a lot of my own word roots, etc. There are some letters/sounds present here that are NOT present in English, for anyone trying to transliterate this. So...beware! One day I may post the font up here for anyone to snatch. It's also still a work in progress. I'd like to simplify the alphabet even more, especially all the diacritical marks. They get REALLY annoying to draw in after awhile.
So, has Ehranah been over-reacting lately, you think? Or maybe she is just so incensed about what Ravar has carelessly done on account of a misplaced belief? "Oh...the KEY will save us..." Is the Key selfish or altruistic? Did it save Ca-dalen? If I remember right...99.9% of everyone there died protecting it. It never protected them. But that's something for chapter 9 and 10!
And as for anyone who had not yet made the connection between the name of this chapter and the events in it...I hope you are starting to now! There have been some very interesting ideas floating about in the comments about how/why Talon is speaking Ayenroki. It's really hard to do real replies in the comments, so I'd recommend people take that to the forum. That way, I may get you off tra--I mean, provide idea assistance. But really, I'm pretty sure I've made it VERY obvious by this time what happened to a certain someone. I've mentioned that lots of times before as well. It's SUPPOSED to be pretty obvious. As a writer, I'm far more interested in the "why" than the "what."
Some people have expressed a desire for faster updates lately. I hope that's a good sign, and that the story is keeping your interest. During winter break, I really hope to step up and do 2 pages a week. It's not a promise certainly, but I'm trying like mad to get ahead on scripting and sketching. Would anyone be interested in sponsoring pages? I don't like to use the term "donate" since, uh, I'm doing work over here to pound these out (and it's really nice to get PAID to do MORE work if that's what people want), but with some help, it would certainly be possible to try for 2 pages a week.
My problem is that I really don't have the time for more unpaid work. Not only is grad school whooping my ass, I have yet again managed to NOT get hired in a graphic design position and still have to find time to do free work in someone's lab as part of graduation requirements. So, there's no way in hell I could force out extra pages without some kind of monetary recompense for the time spent. Sponsors could each get an original inked sketch for every donation above $15 bucks. Each page would be $50-ish. If you are willing, please comment, and I'll put up a meter thingie to collect in advance. Extra pages would start...ohh....probably the first week of December as long as I have enough notice.
In other news...Stargate: Universe is sucking so bad I can barely stand to watch it. The only reason I do is out of loyalty to the other 2 shows, in the VAIN HOPE it might improve. So far we have randomly sex-crazed marines, a geek, a princess and a giant prick floating about in space. I hate the characters so much I am excited when any of them finally die. The only character worth liking (Col. Young) is a minor character who doesn't get enough screen time. Half the idiots I had in an undergrad creative writing class could write better characters. I am pissed off. They're ruining the series when it has the POTENTIAL to be really awesome. And don't get me started on Flash Foward, which has been falling apart the past 3 episodes. Can we get back to the hunt for the reason behind the Flash Forward please? Or would you like to insert some more random lesbian face sucking time? (no offense to lesbians. As with ANY relationship on screen time, romantic or sexual actions just really need to have a REASON to be there OTHER than to entice a larger horny male audience).
And that was your Kezrant for the day.
When the heck will Lost and Burn Notice be back?
