Chapter 9 - Still Alive 2 - Page 18

January 2, 2012

It's a new month! VOTE TO SEE THE NEXT PAGE A WEEK EARLY! I've spent all of break so far getting a buffer of a few weeks.

Happy new year! I hope you all rung in the new year with some fun, friends and/or family. I had a great time hanging out with some local comic artists myself. Much drawing was done. Followed by a few minutes of watching Lady Gaga acting ridiculous in Time Square...but anyway!

So part of my goal with this entire story arc is to take the events of Book I of this story (The Past) and place it in a context that clarifies a few things...as well as opens up a few options. If you remember the beginning of the story, Ca-dalen lost a battle against and enemy that did not die, and could take over the bodies of the dead to fight against the living. The true form of the enemy was an inky, black thing, and a single touch meant instant death.

I posted the inks to this page in the forum a few weeks back, and one of the comments was something to the effect of "why would she go for the hair and not the hand?" Disregarding the on-going theme of hair cutting (snerk) in this comic, to me it was the most obvious move. If a bunch of stabs to the gut didn't kill the guy, a slash to the arm certainly wouldn't do anything. Getting away would be the best option. I guess the gray area in this logic would be if this character would have the presence of mind to think in this situation.

In other news, in anticipation of the introduction of Relan and Fen Aya Zen from Not Alone in this comic, I've redone the Not Alone site. These guys show up in Chapter 10, so pretty soon. We've got Chapter 9 part III to get through first, where you will be introduced to the character U'hano, and see another familiar face. Lots of fun awaits! But back to Not Alone, the book is now out of print, I'm holding on to the 5 copies I have left. I will not be printing more. So, I've updated all the Not Alone pages to the print version. The epilogue however, is still purchase only.

See you next week! Thanks for reading.
