Chapter 9 - Still Alive - Page 35

July 3, 2011

EDIT: Vote to see the sketch of the last page of this chapter.

I do believe we have adequately established Jostin is a major jerkass. Also, Happy Independence Day, O American readers! I will be spending the day reading up on the Dresden Files while I await the release of Ghost Story, wishing I had some fireworks to play with. As it is with the majority of American holidays though, such days usually have me overly pensive, thinking about what if's and could have beens. Amazing to think a few hundred years ago, thousands died for the freedoms I enjoy today. Mightily humbling, and a True Origin Story we as a people ought to remember more often. :/

That's one of the challenges with this new strip-style format; I feel sometimes like either events are repetive or too slow. I think it's just the update frequency though, and updating 2x a week really helps the pacing. Speaking of updating more often, be sure to come back this Thursday for the final page of this chapter! I am so super excited to start on the next installment.

In the novel, all the chapters in Book III "The Forgotten" are composed of 2-3 parts set on a theme. The theme of the chapter is the name, in this case, "Still Alive," if that gives you any hint as to what may be coming. What I'm saying is, Chapter 9 part II is up next, not Chapter 10. No Relan and Fenni yet, but soon!

Videblog

I refuse to use the word "vlog."

RAFFLE

Only 17 more fans to go until someone wins a Not Alone book with original drawing! Not Alone is an origin story of characters that appear in chapter 10! I have very few copies left, and doubt I will be printing more soon. There will be a drawing for the book when we reach 100 fans.

SpiderForest Admissions

SpiderForest, that wonderful network/host/collective that hosts all my comic works, is once again accepting applications for new members up until July 24. SF offers free hosting, advertising through the overhead banner on every SF site, as well as being distinguished from the rest of the 10's of thousands of webcomics. We're a collective that's serious about the work we put out. All current SF members read and vote on your application. Go here for more info. Those of you readers who may be hosted on Drunkduck and are as pissed off about what they just did (as you should be. Limiting page sizes?! WTF), you may want to consider this option pretty seriously. I started in webcomics over 7 years ago, and tried out Comic Genesis, Drunkduck, Smack Jeeves and Comic Dish before settling on SF. I have not a single ounce of regret.
