I know a few of the details are a little different than what appears in Chapter 1. This is what happens when a comic is around for a couple years and the story gets rewritten. I've done a bit of a hybrid here between the comic's version of Chapter 1 and the current version. It's hopefully in line enough with everything already set down here that it's not confusing.
For those interested, here's the scene from the novel that's shown in this page:
Immediately, the vision began to move. Talon reached for the clenched hand, and Varukia shuddered at the touch. The thief looked about to leave, but something drew him back. He peeled back her fingers one by one, until the innocuous, flat ring of blue steel was revealed. He hesitated again, looked about to leave, and then he took it. Varukia's torso rigidly flew upright, and the wound on her neck, previously half-healed, burst open. Ravar flinched as the blood sprayed; Ehranah did not. The droplets passed through them both like ghosts.
Barely able to see now in the darkness of the thief's mind, Ravar squinted to see Varukia fall backwards on the bed, dead. Her body shivered, and began to fall apart without the Key to retain some element of life. The thief swore, scraping madly at his palm as the blue steel burrowed itself into his flesh. Close to panicking, he darted for the window when a hand in the shadows pulled him back.
"What have you done?"a voice growled, a distinctly Ayenroki voice.
Here, Ehranah paused the play of the memory. It could only have happened now. So fast, it should be impossible. Ravar peered through the shadows, but could not discern the face or the figure. That voice... he trailed off. It is not natural.
No, it is not, but we have no time to discover why. This is the instant we must erase.
That's it from me, peeps! I've been neglecting answering comments, so I'm going to do that now. I'll be taking the winners of the Make Kez Laugh Contest down this weekend, so that readers can view the ANSWERS to their comments. The commenting system is by page number as opposed to date. D:
