Logo Commissions

Art Commissions:

A full-color, digital illustration of one character (or landscape or focus, etc) with a simple background begins at $45.  Prices will vary, more or less, depending on the difficulty of the piece and the deadline. If you are going to want this as a print, please let me know so I can tailor to a certain size for optimal print-out. Traditional ink-on-paper drawings can be also be arranged.  A $45 commission includes 3 possible back-and-forths during the sketching phase between myself and the commissioner, and one back-and-forth at both the inking and/or coloring phase.

Commission Examples

Email me if you’d like to commission or discuss prices. I do everything from landscapes to portraits to full-body characters to accessories (Copyright LadyStar). I rather like to draw realistic weaponry (copyright LadyStar), including firearms.

I also am open to do concept based work, for any non-manga project. I apologize, but I simply can’t draw manga.  A full repertoire can be found at my Deviant Art gallery.

Comic Commissions:

Yesh, I can make you comics! My rate is $15/sketch, $30/uncolored inks, $45/colored page. These prices will be more or less depending on the SIZE of your desired page and COMPLEXITY of the coloring. For example, do you want a 3-panel, cel-shaded strip or an over-size graphic novel page?

For this to work, I need a script, and a 2-3 page  production buffer.  I cannot complete more than 1 full-colored page a week or more than 2 uncolored pages per week unless I’m working with a team, so keep that in mind if commissioning me.

I have 3 comics in 3 different styles to showcase my capabilities. The War of Winds is a full-color, graphic novel (rated PG-13).  Not Alone is a simplistic,  grayscale graphic novel (rated PG).  What it Takes is a monochrome strip comic (rated R). Three example pages, one from each, are below.

WHAT I DON’T DO: I do NOT do free test runs or free page samples.  I expect to paid for each piece of work I do, even if, at the end of that, you don’t decide I’m the right person for the job. I’ve accumulated over 450 pages of comics, so my capabilities, or lack thereof, are quite clear.

WHAT I CAN DO: I can try different styles, black and white, heavy inks, etc. My comics are the style I prefer, not necessary the only styles I am capable of.  However–I do not draw manga of any kind. I’ll ink it and color it, but I don’t draw it. Email to inquire.

Comic Website Commissions:

I offer a reduced price for comic website commissions. I realize the majority of webcomic creators are in the same boat as myself: poor student. For $100, I will design and code a simple site with an archive. If you want something more complicated, it can be arranged.  My own site pretty much features my capabilities. Here are some other examples.

  • If you know how to code but want someone else to make you a design, this starts at $50, depending on the level of design necessary (Example 1, Example 2.)
  • You must supply your own logo or have me design you one, which is extra ($35-$100), but at reduced cost as part of a package. Examples of logos I’ve done can be seen here and here. You get a low-res site version, and a 300dpi high-res version. If you have your own logo, I use that. Price will depend on whether you will be merchandising with it.

Non-Comic Website Commissions

Prices start at $250 for a website design and code. This includes everything from logo design to writing up the descriptions, selecting images, and even includes drawing up to 2 original graphics, drawn by me.  More complex sites will cost more, especially if a lot of editing of text is involved, not because it’s hard, but because that is VERY time consuming. Past the original website build, I can manage this website and edit or add things for $5 each time that is required. If a site is going to require a lot of maintanence, we can hash out a monthly rate rather than a per-edit rate.   Contact me at warofwinds [-AT-] gmail.com if you are interested. My website-building process and requirements are outlined below. My own sites showcase my capabilities.

My requirements for website building:

  • I must have access to your FTP and/or site admin area. This means admin level freedom.  I erase all confidential site information when a job is complete, but I encourage you to create an second admin account, then erase it when I am finished. Please don’t send me YOUR login information if possible.
  • For a comic site, I will not write up the “copy” on your site. Copy is tech-speak for “all the words.” For example, if you want a cast page, I will build it for you, but I will not write up the blurbs, nor will I find the images to use for the page. You are going to need to send me the images you want, and the text, for me to insert for you. I will happily make thumbnail images to use, if, for example, you have all the information you want up, but want to leave it to me on HOW to present it.
  • I cannot be long-term webmaster of any site, though advice and tinkering is completely free if you need it, even if I have not done a commission for you. If you want to commission me for a long-term project, the answer is NO. I’m already involved with too much long-term stuff as it is. I define long-term as “you will need me for more than 2 weeks.”
  • Payments should be made with Paypal to warofwinds@gmail.com.   I expect full payment no more than 1 week after completion of the project.

Email me at warofwinds (~AT~) gmail.com if you’re interested.

Logo Design

If you need a logo as part of a comic website design commission, the price is $35-100.  For a personal, non-comic site, the price is $100-250. Admittedly, a lot of it depends on why you need the logo. Are you going to be putting it on merchandise and make a profit on it? That’s $250, because you’ll be making money on my work, and I have to give up all my rights to it, and frankly, you would stand to make much more on it than you paid me to make it. Are you going to be putting it on the door to the business in your garage? Okay, that’s $100, because I wish you luck with your business.  Are you going to be putting it on stationary, bumperstickers, billboards? That’s back to $250. A logo can be a symbol, text, or both. You can specify, or leave it up to me.

Here are some examples of my work in action:
